I
am living and working in Washington. I worked at Accenture for 3
years and just over a year ago left to start a new career as a residential
realtor in Washington.

I
remember when I first came to GW, I thought campus was huge, a
whole city of itself. I carried a GW map, folded over and over
in my back pocket for the first few months of school. The campus
in the fall of 1997 was not nearly as pretty as it is today. Probably
the nicest spot on campus was the rose gardens in what we used
to call “the quad”, now called the University Yard.
There was no Kogan Plaza, and the newest and nicest building then
was New Hall, which, was actually still kind of new. It’s
now more than 10 years old. Thurston felt like an outpost on the
far side of campus, and when we lived there, there was a dining
hall in the basement. We used to role out of bed at 2:00 p.m.
on Saturdays and Sundays just in time to make the brunch before
it closed. After Freshman year, J Street was the primary on campus
meeting place. We used to eat dinner there most nights, and we
ate lunch there everyday.
I
actually never left GW. In the summer of 2001, I started as Presidential
Administrative Fellow working toward a Master’s degree in
Political Management, studying in particular political fund raising.
At the same time, I was hired by the University’s fund raising
department. Three jobs and five years later, I’m the Director
of Development for my graduate school, the Graduate School of
Political Management, doing my dream job.
The
other things that keep me busy are remodeling an old house in
a developing neighborhood of Alexandria and a tiny sailboat that
I take out on the Potomac.

I
work for a small-business trade association, the National Association
for the Self-Employed, handling communications activities. This
includes both internal and external efforts, such as media relations,
a small bit of marketing, and member contact – newsletters,
the member magazine, and e-mails. I have been with the NASE for
the last four years. I live in Alexandria with my husband, Mike
(BA’00 from GW).

Upon
graduation, I moved to Massachusetts and was working as a retail
store manager. I had my daughter, Elizabeth, on New Year's Eve
of 2001 and then began working in Marketing Communications for
Mykrolis Corporation. In 2004, I moved onto Iron Mountain, working
in MarCom and then Product Management. I was laid off in 2005,
just before my wedding. I got married in June 2005 and we are
currently expecting our 2nd child in November 2006! I stay home
with my daughter and plan to do so for a few more years.
