  • Will Moreau Goins, CCAS BA ’84, received the 2008 Jean Laney Harris Folk Heritage Award from the South Carolina Arts Commission on April 16 for his lifelong dedication to preserving and presenting Native American music traditions, beadwork, and storytelling.

  • Jaclyn Schiff, ESIA BA ’06, blogs about Generation Y on The Schiff Report.

  • Ten GW students appeared on Fox Business April 22 to discuss the economy and 2008 elections.

  • GW Women’s Basketball players Sarah-Jo Lawrence and Whitney Allen were featured in an ABC World News Tonight package about graduation rates among men’s and women’s NCAA basketball student-athletes. The Colonials graduation rate is 92 percent.

  • Two engineering graduate students placed first in the Game Development Category of the 2008 U.S. Imagine Cup. The students’ game, Ecocism, is a futuristic arcade-style experience that demands players manage their resources strategically, restore the environment, and fend off onslaughts from enemy combatants.

    The Washington Nationals called up Mike O’Connor, BBA ’02, from Triple-A Columbus on April 24. O’Connor recorded the victory in the Nationals win over the Mets that evening.

  • As a result of their National Runner-Up Finish at the 2007-2008 National Championship Tournament, the GW Mock Trial team will begin next year ranked #1 in the country. Rankings are based on a team’s performance in the last three National Championships.
