The inaugural GW Global Forum will provide an opportunity for alumni, parents, students, and friends to convene in one of Asia's most exciting locations. Join us to network with members of the GW worldwide community and to hear from keynote speakers Ambassador Susan C. Schwab, GWSB PhD '93, American politician and former U.S. Trade Representative, and Admiral William A. Owens, GWSB MS '76, chairman of AEA Investors (Asia) and former vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, GW President Steven Knapp and more.
Faculty, alumni, and recognized experts from the U.S. and Asia will discuss timely political, economic, and security issues, including the future of U.S.–Asia relations. Participants include GW Professor David Shambaugh, who recently wrote a TIME magazine article about the People's Republic of China 60th anniversary.
"The alumni in Hong Kong feel very proud that the first ever GW Global Forum will be held in our city and it's our collective responsibility to ensure its success," said Frank Wong, ESIA BA '79, president of the GW alumni chapter in Hong Kong. "This forum will showcase GW's intellectual firepower to leaders in Asia and strengthen our growing alumni network. It's time that we raise GW's international profile to match our academic excellence, and the Global Forum is a big step in that direction."
The GW Global Forum comes at a time when the eyes of the world will be on Asia. The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation CEO summit, held Nov. 12-14, will draw world leaders, including U.S. President Barack Obama, President Hu Jintao of China, President Dmitry Medvedev of Russia, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono of Indonesia, President Lee Myung-Bak of Korea, President Felipe Calderon of Mexico and Prime Minister Kevin Rudd of Australia, to Singapore.
