 Health and Safety

The health and well-being of GW students, alumni, friends, faculty, and staff remains a top priority for GW and all alumni events will proceed in compliance with all state, local, and public health guidelines.

COVID-19 Health and Safety Notice

By registering and attending GW events you voluntarily understand, acknowledge, and assume the potential risks related to possible exposure to the COVID-19 virus, including illness, injury or death as a result of the COVID-19 virus. You understand that there may be additional requirements in place at the event, and you agree to adhere to those requirements.

Vaccination Requirements

It is recommended that all event attendees be fully vaccinated. Proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 or a recent negative COVID-19 test is no longer required to attend GW events. Masks may be required indoors.

Information for Campus Visitors

The health and well-being of GW students, alumni, friends, faculty, and staff remains a top priority for GW and all events will proceed in compliance with all state, local, and public health guidelines.

Visitors are not required to demonstrate proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 or a recent negative COVID-19 test. This applies to attendees at events in GW venues (Smith Center, Lisner Auditorium, Jack Morton Auditorium, etc.) except where expressly stated.

Masks are mandatory in indoor instructional settings, such as classrooms and teaching laboratories, as well as GW transportation services such as the Mount Vernon Express, VSTC Express and SafeRide.

In addition, masks remain required in university health care facilities, including the Student Health Center and the GW Medical Faculty Associates, which is consistent with the District of Columbia’s guidance.

In all other university-owned or -operated facilities and contexts, especially when in crowded indoor spaces for extended periods of time, masks are optional but remain strongly recommended.

More information can be found on GW’s Coronavirus Response website.

Off-Campus Events

The Office of Alumni Relations will adhere to GW's health and safety policies, CDC guidelines, state and local restrictions, and any venue-specific requirements. This may include but is not limited to capacity limits, social-distancing rules, indoor mask requirements, etc. We also understand that the situation around COVID-19 is evolving, and restrictions and guidelines may change. When the status of an event or requirements for participants change, registered participants will be informed via updated registration pages and emails when applicable.
