Social Media Ambassador (Buff & Blue Crew)

Description: Social Media Ambassadors, also called the “Buff & Blue Crew,” share GW news, stories, and events with their professional connections/networks via the social media platforms of their choice (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.). Simply receive postable content from the GW Buff & Blue Crew via email, and share. Read the full position description and sign up here.

Giving Day Advocate (March and April only)

Description: Giving Day Advocates (GDAs) connect with GW community members and share social media content and information with their GW networks to increase engagement on our annual Giving Day. Read the full position description.

Time commitment: 30 minutes of training, 1-2 hours of communication time in weeks leading up to Giving Day, 1-2 hours on Giving Day

Philanthropic commitment: Giving Day Advocates are expected to make a gift to GW at a level of individual comfort.

Reunion Volunteer

Description: Class reunions held during GW Alumni & Families Weekend (AFW) are the perfect occasions to reconnect with old friends, visit campus, and share news and memories. Reunion volunteers will have an opportunity to reach out to classmates to invite them back to campus, as well as help plan the details for their reunion party and any other class-specific activities during the weekend. Read the full position description.

Time commitment: 30 minutes of training, 1 hour per month for committee meetings from April - October, and 1-4 hours per month on classmate outreach/venue research/event planning.

Philanthropic commitment: Reunion volunteers are expected to make a gift to GW at a level of individual comfort by the date of their class reunion party.

Description: GW Alumni In Focus is a campaign by the GW Alumni Association where we spotlight some of the achievements of our incredible alumni community. We encourage you to share your achievements with the rest of the GW alumni community through this initiative. Fill out our form here.

Industry Leadership Council Member

Description: A member of a network's Industry Leadership Council (ILC) will work with the Office of Alumni Relations (OAR) staff to implement industry-based programming for GW alumni, both in-person and online. Read the full position description.

Time commitment: ILC members are expected to participate in an average of two council meetings per year. Most additional volunteer tasks can be completed at leisure within the deadlines determined by the ILC and OAR for specific events. ILC members are expected to serve a minimum of a two-year term.

Philanthropic commitment: All volunteers are expected to make an annual gift of any amount (minimum gift of $5) to any GW fund.

Regional Network Volunteer (Domestic and International)

Description: The regional alumni networks are led by alumni volunteers who wish to reconnect with GW and with fellow alumni in their geographic area. Among many responsibilities, regional volunteers are expected to positively represent and promote GW in the region; develop action plans and events appropriate to each region in support of the university’s strategies; and lead and coordinate all aspects of planning and executing regional events.

Time Commitment: Regional volunteers spend approximately two hours per month in network related activities. Volunteers are expected to serve a two-year term. 

Philanthropic Commitment: Regional volunteers are expected to make an annual gift to GW at a level of individual comfort.

Shared Identity Alumni Network Volunteer

Description: The Shared Identity alumni networks are led by alumni volunteers who wish to create community and reconnect with alumni based on their identity. Shared Identity volunteers are tasked with positively representing and promoting GW within their identity and affinity group; developing action plans and events appropriate to each Shared Identity Network in support of the university’s strategies; and leading and coordinating all aspects of planning and executing Shared Identity events. Read the full position description here.

Time Commitment: Shared Identity & Interest volunteers spend approximately two hours per month in network related activities. Volunteers are expected to serve a two-year term.

GWebinar Presenter

Description: The GWebinar program is an online professional development series that invites GW alumni, staff, faculty, parents, and industry experts to share best practices, educate, and cultivate professional success amongst GW alumni. We host 3 - 4 presentations each year and welcome proposals for new topics and areas of interest.

Time Commitment: Presentations last one hour. Prior to the presentation date, there will be 2 - 3 phone calls with the program manager to review expectations, guidelines, and address any questions.

GW Career Connect (GWCC) Online Networking

Description: GW Career Connect is an online platform for student-alumni mentorship and networking. It is a global and diverse community that enables undergraduate and graduate students from all GW schools, class years and industries to seek career guidance and professional development from alumni. Both students and alumni can also network within fourteen industry areas of interest.

Time commitment: Varies based on participation

Coffee/Dinner Alumni Host

Description: The Coffee/Dinner with Alumni program offers GW students the chance to build connections and network with alumni over coffee/dinner. Hosts organize the dinner details including: picking a location; making a reservation; paying for the coffee/dinner; and selecting the number of students they would like to host. During coffee/dinner, hosts share their positive GW experiences and discuss strategies for major selection, career direction, and leveraging leadership involvement. Read the full position description.

Time Commitment: 1-2 hours planning and preparing for the coffee/dinner. Coffees/dinners usually last between 45 minutes to 2 hours. 

Philanthropic Commitment: Hosting a Coffee/Dinner with Alumni event is considered a gift-in-kind to the university with submission of receipts.
