Jobs

Support the GW community of alumni and students and enhance your organization by recruiting and hiring fellow Colonials for internships, full-time, and part-time positions. And if you’re looking to search for your first job or change careers, you’ve come the right place. The university has partnered with Handshake, a modern career development and recruitment platform that will help build and strengthen relationships between organizations and GW students and alumni.

Handshake offers many exciting new features for our students, alumni, and alumni employers:

Search for a job

Handshake personalizes job recommendations based on your interests and connections, pushing out customized information that is relevant and timely based on your career interests, experiences, and major or field. The system features 180,000 diverse employers listing thousands of full-time positions, internships, as well as seasonal and temporary employment opportunities.

Access resources & events relevant to your career needs

On Handshake, you can easily search for employment, sign up for events and appointments, access the on-campus recruiting program, review career resources that are relevant to you, and receive the latest information from your career services office and the employers you follow.

Recruit Colonials

Handshake offers a streamlined and centralized college recruiting process for employers that allows you to easily connect with great Colonial candidates, post jobs and internships at no cost, and register for career events and on-campus recruiting.

Please note that the Handshake system is currently accessible to employers and will be accessible to students and alumni by July 1.

Employers - you may access Handshake by going to gwu.joinhandshake.com to set up your profile.

Alumni currently registered in GWork: watch for the Handshake invitation email. Within the next few weeks, you will receive an email from Handshake with information on how to access your new Handshake account and complete your profile.  Note: If you had personal documents uploaded to GWork profile in GWork, the former system, e.g., resumes, cover letters, etc., they will NOT be transitioned to Handshake. If do not already have copies of these materials, you should download them from GWork. You will have access to your GWork documents library until September.

If you have any questions, please contact the Handshake Help Desk at handshakehelp@gwu.edu.
