George Washington University alumna Julie A. Monaco, B.A.’85, received a lifetime achievement award from Citi Bank in honor of her remarkable four-decade career. The award acknowledged Monaco’s legacy, candor, courage and mentorship profoundly shaped both our firm and the financial services industry.
She served as the global head of public sector coverage at Citi, overseeing a team that provided a portfolio of financial services for state-run enterprises in 160 countries. Over the yers, publications including Forbes and Fortune, which have named her to their lists of the most powerful women in finance.
Throughout her career, she advocated for workplace equity and inclusion and mentored younger women in finance. She has been named to American Banker’s list of “25 Most Powerful Women in Banking and Finance” eight times. She has also been recognized by Treasury & Risk magazine as one of the “100 Most Influential People in Finance” and has been honored by the YWCA-New York City Academy of Women Leaders for her professionalism and community service.
